Cannon goes on to assert that a major contributing factor for Hip-Hop’s drug abuse problem is the fact that the substances were glorified by previous rappers.

Cannon asked Vlad, “Since, you know, certain artists started glorifying drug culture, and doing drugs … Who is the first rapper you heard popping pills?” To which Vlad responds, “In fact, his first CD had a drawing of pills being broken in half,

Cannon goes on to state,

“I idolized Snoop. We smoke weed. All this pill-poppin’ generation … I idolize E-40. We sell drugs, we don’t take ’em….It’s f*cked up, man. And you [ask] where we place the blame. I only know to place the blame on people who control the indoctrinated institutionalization…Someone has to bring this stuff to us. Someone has to glorify this stuff in order for us to do it. And the only reason I’m saying that is because I believe it’s our duty to shift it. It’s our duty to say, ‘No, poppin’ pills ain’t cool. F*ckin’ eatin’ healthy is cool. F*ckin’ educatin’ yourself is cool. F*ckin’ understandin’ a plant-based diet is cool …”
