Charlotte Police Launch Internal Affairs Investigation After DaBaby Cited for Marijuana

As we previously reported, DaBaby was arrested in his hometown of Charlotte following his own concert. The rapper (legal name: Jonathan Lyndale Kirk) told local media the CMPD constantly harasses him every time he’s home.

“Absolutely. Every time I come here, every time…They follow me, they pull us over for no reason, they search our cars, they do everything. They treat us like animals.”

The Charlotte Metro Police Department issued the following statement stating an Internal Affairs investigation will look into the rapper’s arrest while also providing their narrative from the police standpoint.

Local-based activists also were not pleased with the way the police treated DaBaby. Will Adams, from Team True Blue who was passing out hi-tech presents to Charlotte children before the concert, stated,

“As a community leader as we’re trying to instill love and hope back to the community and we’re trying to bridge the gap between the police and the community this type of stuff makes it hard..”
