The NYPD announced Tuesday (3/17) that 17 of its police officers “from a Manhattan precinct are out sick,” according to Pix11 News (NYC).
The announcement further states that one officer from the 1st Precinct tested positive for the infectious disease. In total, 31 people from the precinct are out sick and 17 of those persons have been tested for coronavirus with the results still pending.
New York City’s mayor Bill de Blasio also announced Tuesday that that the city has over 800 coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, approximately 90 miles southeast of NYC in Philadelphia, according to MSN law enforcement in the city has been ordered to, “temporarily stop making arrests for certain non-violent crimes until next month amid the coronavirus outbreak.”
Such non-violent crimes included according to local Philadelphia news correspondent Steve Keeley:
