Steve Kerr might come off as someone who’s opinion wouldn’t carry weight on matters concerning world affairs, however, a brief understanding of his family background should clarify any misconceptions on the matter.

Kerr’s father, Malcolm Hooper Kerr, was a university professor specializing in the Middle East and the Arab world. Although an American citizen, Malcolm Hooper Kerr was born, raised, and died in Beirut, Lebanon and served as president of the American University of Beirut until he was killed during the Lebanese civil war gunmen in 1984.
In reality, Steve Kerr is incredibly knowledgeable about Middle Eastern affairs. Kerr recently retweeted a post from veteran war reporter Dan Murphy essentially debunking Vice President Mike Pence’s sudden post-Iranian Commander Qasem Soleimani’s assassination claim of Soleimani somehow being involved with the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington D.C.
Blaming Iran for 9/11 is a pants-on-fire loony pants lie straight out of Infowars. We are a nation of epistemologically-challenged toddlers.
p.s. to Mike: 19. There were 19 hijackers. https://t.co/osTzxSvgcj— Dan Murphy (@bungdan) January 3, 2020
Then, the Golden State Warriors coach directly addressed the matter by tweeting in response to the Vice President’s claim,
One thing I've learned in my lifetime is to not believe our government when it comes to matters of war. Johnson and Nixon lied about Viet Nam. Bush and Cheney lied about WMD's in Iraq. Now Pence is lying about Iran/Soleimani's supposed involvement in 9/11. https://t.co/jm3oex867A

The general concern now is that President Trump is seeking to create a war-like atmosphere in order to increase his chances of being reelected. The perception of propaganda being spewed from the White House comes as Iran and the United States have upped their rhetoric towards one another with President Trump essentially giving a “notification to the United States Congress” that he’ll “strike back” in the case Iran responds to Trump assassinating their high-ranking Commander.
These Media Posts will serve as notification to the United States Congress that should Iran strike any U.S. person or target, the United States will quickly & fully strike back, & perhaps in a disproportionate manner. Such legal notice is not required, but is given nevertheless!

If things couldn’t get more bizarre The House Foreign Affairs Committee responded to the President’s tweet by reminding him of the need for a sitting President to seek congressional approval over matters relating to war, as per “United States Constitution.”
This Media Post will serve as a reminder that war powers reside in the Congress under the United States Constitution. And that you should read the War Powers Act. And that you’re not a dictator. https://t.co/VTroMegWv0
