Governor Murphy stated the following on the matter,

“There are residents who are living as full participants in their communities and yet have been needlessly prevented from having a voice in the future direction of their communities.”

In addition, the New Jersey Governor signed another bill that will reportedly permit state residents who have low-level drug offenses and non-violent offenses removed from their records as long as they do not commit another crime for the next ten years.
