Jamaican Appeals Court Reportedly Upholds Vybz Kartel’s Murder Conviction

Billboard is reporting that a Jamaican appeals court decided to uphold Vybz Kartel’s murder conviction stemming from a 2014 ruling. The local press published a 235-page opinion piece by appeals officials as to the reasoning for Vybz denial in addition to the affirmation of convictions for the music star’s co-defendants.

Vybz Kartel (legal name: Adidja Azim Palmer) was convicted of the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams whose body has yet to be discovered. The appeals judges concluded that despite the absence of Williams’ body, the jury considered mountains of evidence and witness testimony sufficient enough to warrant Vybz, and his co-defendants, to remain incarcerated.

The attorney for dancehall artist reportedly intends on appealing the decision.
