Got to respect any individual who sets out a plan for him/herself and perseveres until the objective is accomplished. Such can be said about Akon who back in 2018 made public his plans to build a city in his family’s native West African country of Senegal that will be “100% crypto-based.” That is, the city, which will be called ‘Akon City’ will use a locally-produced crypto currency as the main medium of exchange. For this to happen behind the scenes mechanisms will be set in place which will connect the Akon City currency with the global financial system.
Akon has now revealed that he has finalized the deal to make the city come to life.

While on Nick Cannon’s radio show last year, Akon discussed his plans to create a city that is “100% crypto-based,” and also said the city was going to be called Akon City before adding “It’s a 10-year building block so we’re doing it in stages. We started construction in March and stage two is going to be 2025.”
