The World Health Organization (WHO) today (3/11) has officially declared the COVID-19 (better known as “Coronavirus”) a pandemic. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a pandemic as “an outbreak of a disease that occurs over a wide geographic area and affects an exceptionally high proportion of the population.”
The WHO highlighted how Coronavirus has hit at a minimum of 114 countries and killed more than 4,000 people. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated, “This is the first pandemic caused by coronavirus…” Ghebreyesus continued, “In the past two weeks, the number of cases of COVID-19 outside China has increased 13-fold, and the number of affected countries has tripled…”….. “We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic…”
