Spike Lee Film Actor Thomas Jefferson Byrd Murdered in Atlanta

Spike Lee is reporting that Thomas Jefferson Byrd—an actor who has appeared in numerous films by Lee – was murdered in Atlanta.

The iconic film director took to Instagram and captioned his post by writing, “I’m So Sad To Announce The Tragic Murder Of Our Beloved Brother Thomas Jefferson Byrd Last Night In Atlanta, Georgia. Tom Is My Guy, Here Below You See Him As The Frightening Character Errol Barnes In CLOCKERS. Brother Byrd Also Did His Thang In My Joints- CHI-RAQ, SWEET BLOOD OF JESUS, RED HOOK SUMMER, BAMBOOZLED, HE GOT GAME, GET ON THE BUS, GIRL 6 And CLOCKERS. May We All Wish Condolences And Blessings To His Family. Rest In Peace Brother Byrd.🙏🏿.”

Byrd was known for roles in Spike Lee’s ‘Clockers,’ ‘He Got Game’ with Denzel Washington, ‘Bamboozled,’ and more. TMZ further reports that Atlanta Police announced a call was responded about a person being injured at 1:45 am this past Saturday. The actor was found responsive after multiple gunshot wounds to the back. The shooting death is now being investigated.
