Some of the best graffiti artists on the West Coast, without a doubt, come from the Chicano community. Netflix will shine a light on both Chicano culture and street art with it’s latest feature documentary. Mister Cartoon and Estevan Oriol are explored in depth in ‘LA Originals’ as it explores the lives and careers of tattoo/graffiti artist Mister Cartoon and photographer/director Estevan Oriol.

A trailer for the Oriol-directed documentary includes appearances by Rap Game veterans Snoop Dogg and Eminem. Other celebrities who will reportedly be featured in LA Originals include George Lopez, Michelle Rodriguez, Wilmer Valderrama, Terry Crews, and Danny Trejo also made it into the movie’s final cut.

Other non-fiction Hip-Hop-focused content in the Netflix catalogue include Rhythm + Flow, Hip Hop Evolution, Rapture, Grass Is Greener, and Look Mom I Can Fly.

On a side note, one Latino Hip-Hop personality who may not get much mainstream credit but is an underground legend is Markski of the United We Stand crew. Originally from New York and living in Los Angeles, his graffiti tags and emceeing always manifested dope art and Power to the People. Find him on Instagram @markski.uws. The two pieces below include Markski’s art work and also him rapping with Sen Dog of Cypress and OG Kid Frost during the America’s Crack Epidemic in an attempt to raise consciousness. Markski is the emcee with the Puerto Rico shirt on.
