R. Kelly’s Brother Claims He Was Offered $50K to Take the Blame for Child Sex Tape

R. Kelly reportedly offered his brother, Carey Kelly, $50,000 to take the fall in connection with the 2002 child sex tape scandal, according to the British tabloid the Daily Mail. This allegation comes ahead of what is being marketed as the sequel for Surviving R. Kelly. Part II, The Reckoning, is set to drop later this year.

Carey describes being offered the $50,000 payoff to take the charge and seemed shocked by the ordeal, stating,

“Perjure myself in a court of law and risk jail time for some stuff that didn’t have anything to do with me….He [R. Kelly] was saying, ‘Man I’ll buy you a car, I’ll buy you a record deal, I’ll give you $50,000,’ I said, ‘Let me tell you something man. You ain’t got enough money for me to say that’s me. Because it ain’t worth me selling my soul.”‘

At this point the R. Kelly saga has become entirely confusing for anyone who’s actually keeping up with the details. More than anything, there seems to be an orchestrated effort to assassinate R. Kelly’s character in the court of public opinion. Meanwhile, in the court of law, the objective observer is left wondering what charges are being brought against the veteran singer. This isn’t meant to justify Kelly’s sex life but it is meant to uphold the integrity of due process and a society that is governed by the rule of law.

We’ll have more on this matter as the details become available.
