R. Kelly just can’t seem to escape his legal woes as he is now being ascended on by the Ghost of Christmas Past. Kelly being charged with a superseding indictment for allegedly bribing a government official in order to marry Aaliyah back in 1994.

A superseding indictment is an indictment that replaces a previous indictment which usually contain new evidence with new charges which need to be filed. R. Kelly has been hit with a superseding indictment adding 1 act of racketeering/ bribery for allegedly getting a fake id for Jane Doe #1 (said government official above). The act dates back to August 30, 1994 – a day before he married Aaliyah. The late singer was 15 years old at the time. This new indictment is in relation to Kelly’s New York case while continuing to face federal and state charges in Chicago.
