Pop Smoke was arrested on Friday (1/17) morning on a federal charge of interstate transport of a stolen vehicle. The Brooklyn rapper is accused of “knowingly and intentionally” transporting a 2019 Rolls-Royce Wraith from California to New York “on or about and between” 11/5- 12/3 in 2019.
TMZ notes that owner of the Rolls-Royce met Pop Smoke this past November in a recording studio in Los Angeles where they eventually established a verbal agreement for the rapper to use the luxury car in a music video. In exchange, the Rolls-Royce owner would receive VIP treatment at one of Pop Smoke’s upcoming concerts.
As things would turn out, Pop Smoke did not return the car the following day as was allegedly agreed and the owner of the Rolls-Royce reported his car as stolen when he tracked the car via GPS as being in Arizona. Pop Smoke was arrested at JFK after returning from Paris Fashion Week and has since been arraigned.
