El Chapo’s Cartel Declares War Against Biggest Cartel in Mexico

The Sinaloa Cartel, who’s major co-leader, Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera aka “El Chapo”, is currently doing 30+ years at U.S. super max prison USP Florence ADMAX, has made a major move against rival Mexican cartel Jalisco New Generation Cartel (JNGC). Experts believe JNGC has grown, ever since El Chapo was eliminated from the Mexican, into the largest illicit enterprise in the country. In 2020, U.S. counter-drug officials considered CJNG its “biggest criminal drug threat” and Mexico’s former security commissioner called the group “the most urgent threat to Mexico’s national security”.

Earlier this month, Mexican periodical Sin Embargo reported that Sinaloa Cartel soldiers announced their arrival in the western Mexican state of Nayarit which is dominated by the CJNG and declared the beginning of “Operation MZ” and vowed “justice” and going so far as to threaten local government officials. “MZ” refers to Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, who has taken charge of the cartel since El Chapo’s extradition and imprisonment last year.

Cartel expert and former United States federal marshal,Robert Almonte, told the Daily Sta he believes El Chapo’s cartel has indeed declared war all over Mexico: “Yes, I believe it does, not only in this state, but in general.” Almonte importantly adds that the declaration of war was “at least sanctioned by El Mayo, and it is coming from the top of the Sinaloa Cartel.”

El Chapo’s cartel includes hundreds of their own foot soldiers in addition to many corrupt policemen and Mexican army members.

Only last week, gunmen from the CJNG executed three alleged drug traffickers linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. The footage showcased three naked victims who’s hands were tied up and their faces covered. The victims claimed they were “chapulines” which translates into English as “grasshoppers.”  A Chapulina is basically a foot soldier and/or pawn who gives no allegiance to any cartel and can switch sides hopping from one cartel to the next.

CJNG is active in all 32 states in Mexico and Puerto Rico. American authorities believe the organization is responsible for over 1/3 of the drugs tranported from Mexico into the United States. Its illicit products have also been sold in Europe and Asia. The CJNG has also had relations of convenience with Chinese Triad groups in the past.
