Deontay Wilder Rips Anthony Joshua, Joshua Responds

Before Anthony Joshua (23-1) was massively KO’d by Andy Ruiz (33-2) during their first fight on 6/1/2019, Deontay Wilder (42-0-1) would constantly tell the media Joshua was scared to fight and was ducking him. Now, following Joshua’s win in his rematch against Ruiz in a unanimous decision in Saudi Arabia on 12/7 Wilder is back to taunting the British champion.

Wilder criticized Joshua’s fighting approach towards Ruiz in their most recent fight, stating,

“You got a 6-inch height advantage, you got an 8-inch reach advantage. Why is you running from the smaller guy [Ruiz]?” and goes on to state that Joshua is talking so much “bullish*t” that “we just don’t have enough toilet paper to wipe as it comes.”

Meanwhile, Joshua responded to Wilder’s criticism of his fight against Ruiz, stating,

“That’s Wilder’s opinion. A lot of people don’t have a good bone in their body to say a positive thing anyway.

“I out-boxed the heavyweight champion of the world for 12 rounds. I don’t think I lost a round. Maybe one … I come in there with a great game plan, I’m successful. Isn’t that good enough?

“You can’t box to keep everyone happy; you have to box for the win. And I feel like when I’m at home celebrating, he’s there talking about negativity. Negative energy breeds failure so I’m just going to keep a positive mindset and build on that victory.”

Wilder is currently preparing to fight Tyson Fury in February 2020.
