Civil Unrest Breaks Out After Philly Officers Shot and Killed Walter Wallace; Meek Mill Reacts

Meek Mill took to social media to share his thoughts on the video of Philadelphia police officers shooting and killing 27-year-old Walter Wallace in close vicinity to his mother. Wallace was reportedly carrying a knife and the video shows him walking in the direction of the two police officers on the scene before they both fired fatal shots at Wallace.

Meek Mill expressed disgust about the situation, writing, “A so called ‘thug on the streets’ wouldn’t shoot a man with a small knife that many times to protect themselves…. the hood been seeing this our whole lives.. I posted for y’all to see a young man killed in front of his mom and coulda been resolved with a tazer or a shot or 2! Let’s help her ASAP!”ย

IG page 911 Philly posted the following video about civil unrest erupting after the video of Wallace went public. Following the fatal shooting, police said protesters began peaceful demonstrations at Malcom X Park. However, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said criminal activity, which was not part of the protest, took place across the city including near the 18th District headquarters at 55th and Pine Streets.
