CDC WARNS OF ‘SEVERE’ CORONAVIRUS SPREAD IN U.S, PRESIDENT TRUMP SAYS IT’S ‘GOING TO GO AWAY’

On Tuesday (2/25), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that it is now expecting Coronavirus, or what is more scientifically referred to as Covid-19, to spread in the United States on a community-wide level and the impacts to daily life are expected to be “severe.”

Director of CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, Nancy Messonnier, explained to reporters,

“As we’ve seen from recent countries with community spread, when it has hit those countries, it has moved quite rapidly. We want to make sure the American public is prepared…”

At which point Messonnier alludes to the ever spreading nature of Coronavirus from the East on westward, “As more and more countries experience community spread, successful containment at our borders becomes harder and harder… Disruption to everyday life might be severe,” Messonnier also stated how she spoke with her own children, stating, “While I didn’t think they were at risk right now, we as a family ought to be preparing for significant disruption to our lives.”

This follows Mike Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization’s Health Emergencies Program, stating,

“Look what’s happened in China: We’ve seen a significant drop in cases, huge pressure placed on the virus and a sequential decrease in the number of cases; that goes against the logic of pandemic. Yet we see in contrast of that, an acceleration of cases in places like Korea, and therefore we are still in the balance,”

During a current trip to India President Trump stated, “I think that’s a problem that’s going to go away…” but officials have expressed the President is frustrated behind the scenes with the pace officials in his administration are moving at in regards to Covid-19.
