Lately it seems, artistically speaking anyway, Freddie Gibbs has evolved from Gangsta Gibbs to simply Freddie. The lyricist who hails from one of America's most violent cities (Gary, Indiana) and regions (Midwest) seems to have met the artistic fork in the road head on by offering a more mature version of himself. As is the case with any gangster the more one ages the more one becomes more cool and intelligent with his/ her gangster and less aggressive. Hence in his latest self-released Freddie album this transformation becomes evident in Gangsta Gibbs. That said, the solid hard-hitting flow is still there.
His latest video, Automatic, is directed by Ben Lambert and Trevor Pence and the persona presented in the video seems to be a slight play on Kyrie Irving's Uncle Drew-- only the character is Uncle Fred.
No need to leave the rest to the imagination. The track is dope as is the video. Hope you enjoy.
