Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin-- parents of the late Trayvon Martin-- were recently interviewed in New York on the Ebro In The Morning radio show on Hot 97 in order to speak on the on the documentary series 'Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story.' During the interview they speak on their motivation to keep pushing forward and also discuss the reasons that made them connect with Jay-Z in order to tell the story of their deceased son.
Martin and Fulton state, “One of the things I always say is that Jay-Z was the person that came to the table, but who we met with was Shawn Carter.” Fulton noted that he is not the same Jay-Z you see in the public eye when compared to interacting with him on a personal level. He continues by saying Jay-Z expressed that this documentary was something that he really wanted to do. Fulton said “The people we selected to document this were the people we thought was the best fit for us… We didn’t want anyone else to try to water it down.”
