11 UPS Workers Accused of Running Drug Smuggling Ring for 10 Years

Eleven UPS workers were arrested in Tuscon, Arizona following an investigation by Department of Homeland Security that stretched over two years. Prosecutors are accusing the UPS employees of smuggling the drugs from Mexico to the United States by placing their drugs inside of packages.

The accused ring-leader is 49-year-old Mario Barcelo who has worked for the company for 20 years. Money laundering charges, drug possession and drug distribution have also been leveled against Gary Love, 40, Michael Castro, 34, and Thomas Mendoza, 47, all UPS employees. Seven others were have also been arrested on charges on shipping drugs and operating stash houses. Tuscon, Arizona is within walking distance of the U.S.-Mexican border.
